Job fair gets good turnout for local plant - Huntington Herald Dispatch

SOUTH POINT - A few hundred potential job candidates attended a four-hour job fair for HarbisonWalker International on Nov. 13.

The company, which is on course to open a new plant in early 2018 at The Point industrial park in South Point, was pleased with the interest shown by the local workforce, according to a news release from Cody Hatten of the Lawrence County Convention & Visitors Bureau. The job fair was hosted in coordination with the Lawrence Economic Development Corportation and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.

"HWI worked diligently to ensure all attendees were informed of the diverse job opportunities at their South Point plant, and provided them the opportunity to communicate directly with multiple HWI employees during the screening process," Hatten wrote in the release.

Jason Borgesi, senior director of Global Procurement, said he was quite satisfied with the coordinated efforts that made the job fair a success.

"LEDC continued to be professional and diligent when working with us on the Job Fair," he said in the release. "With the short time frame that all parties had, the results of this event goes to show what organizations can accomplish together."

Jeremy Clay, director of The Point, said he was pleased to help HarbisonWalker International to connect with the local workforce.

"This Job Fair was truly rewarding for all who attended, and seeing these job opportunities growing in our area is a sure sign of continual progress," Clay said in the release.

Those who were unable to attend the job fair, but are interested in applying for HWI's South Point plant, are encouraged to visit thinkhwi.com/careers for more information.
