A City of Detroit job fair where 350 jobs are being offered continues today at Cobo Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Detroit is hiring 150 police officers, 70 EMS technicians, 40 bus drivers and various other positions. Applicants are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their résumés to the fair. About 1,350 people attended the job fair on Friday, said Michael Hall, the city's director of human resources and labor relations. Hall said those attending today should be ready to sell themselves. "We want people ready to come and compete for the jobs," Hall said. "These are good-paying jobs with good benefits." The city will give preference when hiring to Detroit residents and honorably discharged veterans. The jobs range from park maintenance, which starts at $12.15 an hour, to general manager of the public works department, which has a starting salary of $61,436. Detroit — The city is hosting a job fair at Cobo Center on Friday and Saturday as it looks to fill more than 350 vacant positions, officials said. The job fair, being held in partnership with Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation, is seeking applications for positions including bus drivers and mechanics, police officers, EMS technicians, accountants and human resources analysts. Attendees of the career fair will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from various city departments to learn more about the positions as well as city departments and additional career possibilities. Detroit officials say preference will be given to city residents and honorably discharged veterans. The city is encouraging applicants to bring multiple copies of their resumes. The Onslow Career Center in partnership with the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 16 hosted a job fair for veterans and civilians that attracted hundreds over the course of the event.  With employment opportunities spanning a variety of disciplines, employers such as the Onslow County Sheriff's Office and Home Depot introduced themselves to potential candidates while schools such as Wyotech, who provided lunch for all veterans, passed out information about their programs to prospective students.
