Inmates attend Hinds Co. job fair - WAPT Jackson

Inmates about to be released from the Hinds County Jail had a chance to get a new job on Thursday.

The Hinds County Sheriff's Office teamed up with Tougaloo College for a job fair.

The fair brought community agencies and organizations together with soon to be released prisoners to explore job and education opportunities.

Sheriff Victor Mason said those who have paid their debt to society deserve a second chance.

"It's not about always locking them up and turning them a loose on society. It's releasing them, letting them come out and have that second chance feed their families. Having that second chance to be a father or a mother figure to their families and just giving them some high self esteem," he said.
