The Commons on St. Anthony hosts job fair to hire 60 new people - Auburn Citizen

The Commons on St. Anthony in Auburn is looking to expand its beds and services — and that means adding more jobs.

Sixty, to be exact.

"We're here to help the people of the community," said Jack Pease, the administrator for the Commons. "We've been doing great, and this will help us increase the amount of beds we have for rehab from 40 to 60."

In addition to the new rehab facility and the beds it provides, the nursing home has the capability to add 50 more beds for a total of 300.

In order to hire for these new positions, The Commons will host a job fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Interviews will be conducted during the fair.

Pease said they are looking for a variety of positions including 36 certified nursing assistants, 15 licensed practical nurses, several part-time food service employees, several part-time house keeping employees and a couple of registered nurses as well.

Pease is looking for employees who are passionate about the elderly.

"We are willing to train people, like the certified nursing assistants," Pease said. "We work with BOCES, and we've been putting people into those classes that need the training to be a CNA. We want people that like to work with other people, are outgoing and caring."

If someone is interested in applying for one of the positions but cannot make the job fair, Pease said The Commons holds open interviews every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. He's hoping to have the majority of the positions filled by the end of February.

"We've cared for many generations of county people, so we want to keep that going," Pease said.
