Job fair set to hire deputy corrections officers - WJCL News

SAVANNAH (WJCL) - The Georgia Department of Labor will host a Job Fair for the Chatham County Sheriff's Office to assist in hiring about 60 deputy corrections officers in Savannah.

The event will be held Wednesday, January 13th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the GDOL Savannah Career Center located at 5520 White Bluff Road.

Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Salaries range from $33,841, non-certified peace officers, to $34,518, certified peace officers, annually.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license and the ability to complete the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Counsel certification.

Veterans should bring their U.S. Department of Defense DD214 form to the event.

A pre-employment background check, motor vehicle record check, drug screening test and physical fitness test will be conducted by the employer for the selected applicants .
