Hawaii's Technology industry offers local job fair - KITV Honolulu

HONOLULU -

Hawaii's high tech industry is trying to lure former residents back home as well as keep current residents who excel in the field from moving to the mainland.

The experts here claim the tech industry is as booming as it's ever been in this state. They estimate that there are more than 76,000 tech and innovation jobs in Hawaii. Some of those were on display at the Japanese Cultural Center Tuesday. For the 16th year the state's holiday tech job fair went online.

"The tech industry here in Hawaii is growing. We're not just looking at tech in general but tech as far as that goes across all industries so it includes agriculture and fashion, airlines it includes all of those industries," said Sandy Park, HTDC Economic Development Specialist.

The state does have a goal of creating 80,000 tech jobs that pay $80,000 or more by the year 2030. That's the state's 80/80 plan. If you missed Tuesday's job fair, there's still time to get information on the jobs that are being offered. You can log on to the High Technology Development Corporation's website at www.HTCD.com
