McHenry Chamber of Commerce to host breakfast, job fair for veterans - Northwest Herald

McHENRY – The McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its second annual Honors Breakfast and Job Fair on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the VFW in McHenry at 3002 W. Route 120.

The event will begin with a breakfast at 9 a.m., which will be free to veterans and $5 for others in attendance.

The breakfast will focus on the Korean War, and veterans of that conflict will receive free breakfast for themselves and a guest and receive an award.

A speech from Marine Col. Paul Weaver will discuss what Veterans Day means, what it's like to be in the military today and how the Korean War veterans inspire today's military.

At 11:30 a.m., a job fair will open up to veterans only. Unlike last year, the job fair will be open to the public at 1 p.m.

This will be the second year the chamber hosts the event. Last year's breakfast honored veterans of World War II.

"It's just to do something nice for the vets," Events Director Jane Manny said. "We do an event for the seniors and we thought, here's another part of the community it would be nice to help and honor."

The event's sponsors are BMO Harris Bank and Gary Lang Auto Group. Table sponsors include Military Relocation Professional Janice Ricci of Re/Max Plaza; Patriot Apparel; Chas. Herdrich & Sons, Inc.; Corporate Disk Company; Black Diamond Plumbing & Electric; Wirfs Industries; HR Green; Medela, Inc.; and Colonial Funeral Home.

To sponsor the event, have a booth in the job fair or register for the event, call 815-385-4300.
