Participants sought for job fair - Jacksonville Daily News

EMERALD ISLE | The Town of Emerald Isle is working to connect area businesses with potential employees to help them through the summer season.
Emerald Isle Parks and Recreation is partnering with Carteret Community College to host its first Summer Employment Job Fair and is inviting businesses from Emerald Isle and the surrounding area to participate.
The event is scheduled for April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Emerald Isle Community Center and will feature about 20 vendors.
Program Supervisor Sarah McNally said they have about a quarter of the vendors needed and space is available.
"We are currently still looking for employers," she said.
A 10-by-10 booth space, as well as table and chairs, will be provided.
McNally said any business in the local area that needs help for the summer months is invited to participate.
"Being that we depend on our summer tourism season, the area population grows significantly during the summer and the businesses really need the additional help," she said.
She said they surveyed area businesses and are holding the job fair at a time when many are beginning to hire for the summer season.
"We hope to have a variety of businesses," McNally said.
Just prior to the job fair, Carteret Community College will hold a workshop at 9 a.m. with tips on how to get the job. Pre-registration is required for the workshop.
To pre-register for the workshop or to apply to be a business vendor, contact Sarah McNally at 252-352-6350 or smcnally@emeraldisle-nc.org.
