Lyft will help some job hunters get to a Kansas City job fair - Kansas City Star

An otherwise routine job fair announcement comes with a twist: Those attending may be able to use a $25 credit — if they're first-time Lyft riders — to get to and from the event.

The career fair, planned by HireLive for Aug. 20 at the Embassy Suites Kansas City-Plaza, is free, except that job hunters who are there for more than an hour will face a $10 parking fee. That could be a disincentive to job seekers with tight budgets.

For them, and for job hunters without cars, HireLive is promoting the job fair along with the alternative ride-providing company. Those interested must register at www.hirelive.com to determine eligibility and get the appropriate Lyft promotion code.

Planners emphasize that the job fair, planned for 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is specifically aimed at workers with sales, retail and management experience. Companies signed up to attend so far include GFI Digital, Shane Co. Jewelers and Minuteman Press.

In addition to registering online, qualified job hunters are asked to wear "business professional" clothing and bring at least 10 copies of their resumes.
