Roger Bluhm/@roger_dcglobe If anyone in Kansas is looking for a job, Thursday March 9 might be the right time to apply. KansasWorks is holding a statewide job fair on March 9. Dodge City's Civic Center is one location for the job fair, with other locations being in El Dorado, Kansas City, Leavenworth, Overland Park, Parsons, Wichita and Wellington. It's the second time Dodge City has been involved in a statewide job fair. "Currently the top industries recruiting are nursing and sales," said Linda Koci of the Hays office of KansasWorks. "Additional employers are looking to fill jobs in restaurant, production, law enforcement, drivers, teachers, equipment operators, agriculture, finance, direct care, security and postal. "If someone is looking for a job in southwest Kansas I encourage them to attend this event as there will be a wide range of jobs available." A total of 30 employers are currently registered for the event, but Koci believes that number will rise. "I strongly encourage anyone attending the job fair to dress as if going to an interview and to bring your resume," Koci said. "If you do not have a resume, please call KansasWorks in Dodge City at 620-227-2149 and they will help you with your resume, cover letter and even answering interview questions." "Workforce and Commerce are inextricably linked through the mutual goal of successful employer-employee relationships and quality work," said Kansas Commerce Secretary Antonio Soave. "The Department of Commerce values the opportunity to unite the businesses we work so closely with to the skilled and valuable employees they need to fill their crucial positions." This is also an opportunity for veterans of any status and their families to meet with a variety of employers in an array of industries and fields. Veterans at any stage in their career search are invited, including active duty, reservists or National Guard. The job fair will also give veterans an opportunity to meet with these employers before the job fair opens to the public. "The Kansas workforce is made up of highly-skilled and talented individuals with a passion and drive that brings an inherent value to every task they set their minds to," said Kansas Commerce Deputy Secretary for Workforce Services Brad Klinge. "Our workers make up the fabric of this state, holding it together through their unending will and commitment to excellence." The job fair will open exclusively to veterans from 2:30 to 3 p.m., and at 3 p.m. all job seekers are invited to attend. Let's block ads! (Why?) |
