Job fair for Veterans: Putting America's hero's back to work (KSNV)

Mike Dilnot-Smith with Titan Stairs Inc. says, "It's always been a boast of ours that we can do anything, anybody wants."

Smith is looking for a few good men.

Here at Titan Stairs, hoping to hire craftsmen to create works of art for residential customers. The goal is to put military veterans on the payroll.

"We're trying to get new people, we like to train people and develop our own installers," says Smith.

We met Smith at the Vegas PBS job fair for Veterans.

One of about 40 employees looking to hire our nation's heroes.

From metro police to gaming companies, these are real jobs being offered.

Army Veteran Doug Moore is looking for a sales position.

"Probably harder to get a job these days than it used to be because you have to work to do online. But doing the job has always been easier to me than getting the job," Moore tells me.

PBS holds these job fairs for Veterans about three times a year, their commitment to those who served.

In many cases helping men and women who wore the uniform transition into civilian life.

Juan Rangel the Veterans Services Coordinator-Vegas PBS says, "be able to identify how do their skills and experiences from active duty relate to the civilian world? And many times they have soft skills and they don't know to rework them."

The next event here at Vegas PBS already being planned for this Summer.

A commitment to the veteran community.

As for Titan Stairs, this is the company's first time at this job fair.
