FMWR hosts job fair to fill 62 positions - Public Affairs Office of Headquarters, US Army Combined Arms Support Command and Fort Lee (press release) (blog)

FORT LEE, Va. (Feb. 1, 2018) -- In an effort to quickly fill needed positions at Family and MWR directorate, a Job Fair/Hiring Event is set for Feb. 21, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Regimental Community Center.

The event – hosted by FMWR and the non-appropriated fund human resources office – offers prospective job seekers 62 opportunities to gain employment on the installation.

The agency is hiring cooks, laborers, recreation assistants, operation assistants, cashiers, bartenders, food and beverage attendants, waiters, food service workers and lifeguards.

"We are hosting this event in order to fill vacancies as quickly as possible with the right people for the right job at the right time," said Collette Duncan, the NAF HR officer on Fort Lee.

All interested individuals have to apply for positions by Feb. 14 at www.usajobs.gov. Each listing has "Job Fair-Hiring Event" in the title for easier visibility, said Duncan. (Search Job Fair with the zip 23801 to easily locate the positions.) While attendance at the job fair isn't mandatory to be considered for the position, it will make the process faster. Applicants must still be qualified and referred through the USAJOBS.gov process.

"Qualified applicants who are able to attend the event will be referred to management first, and the NAF HR Office will contact them and schedule their interview appointment," she said. "If there are still vacancies to fill after the event, the remaining applicants will be referred for potential selection."

Tentative offers may be made the day of the event, and applicants will be able to begin their paperwork process for the required pre-employment background checks, said Duncan.

Darrell Clay, Family and MWR director, said he's excited about the opportunity the job fair will bring.

"We are very excited to partner with NAF Civilian Personnel Office to host the upcoming FMWR hiring fair," he said. "It is going to give us a chance to add valuable members to our FMWR staff in the most efficient way possible.

"Our FMWR team is the most valuable asset we have," Clay continued. "Having a great team allows us to give the fantastic customer service our customers deserve. That is always our top priority."
