Grand Rapids schools hosting Saturday job fair, on-site interviews - MLive.com

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Grand Rapids Public Schools is hosting a job fair Saturday, March 25, to fill a variety of jobs, including for teachers, nurses, and security personnel.

School leaders say they are looking for individuals to fill current and upcoming positions. On-site interviews and hiring will be available for select schools and departments.

Some of the other areas the district is looking to fill positions include: facilities and operations, transportation, nutrition services, support services, and skilled trades.

"Grand Rapids Public Schools is gaining state and national attention as a model urban public school district. I encourage job seekers to visit the job fair, learn a bout the opportunities, and join the movement as a GRPS employee," said Superintendent Teresa Weatherall Neal.

Currently, the district has about 55 vacancies to fill. Besides for filling immediate openings, the fair is expected to provide a pool of qualified, interested candidates the district can tap when other positions become available.

Job fair attendees can register in advance on the district website, www.grps.org, under the "careers" tab. Select "job fair quick form" and choose "Grand Rapids District Job Fair" from the drop down list.

Representatives from human resources will be available at the job fair to answer questions and assist with applications.
