ERIE, Pa. -- With the unemployment rate increasing within Erie County, thousands were given much needed assistance on Wednesday.

Thousands of people suited up and flocked to the Bayfront Convention Center for a chance at a career from 100 different businesses

Job seekers with résumés in hand met with 100 potential employers at the 11th annual Erie Times-News and Career Concepts Job Fair.

Event organizers said there was a wide variety of job seekers looking for all positions from entry level to executive.

Stephanie Ward just graduated from college and went to the fair looking to launch her career in criminal justice.

"It is a wonderful experience to be able to talk with them and say what does your job do, what is expected of me if I decide to come work for you," Ward said.

But the career fair is not only beneficial to job seekers, but for recruiters as well to fill open positions.

For recruiting company Volt, this career fair helped them discover two dozen new potential clients.

Many job seekers said having the opportunity to meet and shake the hand of a potential future employer is much more valuable then just sending a résumé.
