Holiday Hiring Season: Branson businesses looking for employees at Job Fair - KY3

BRANSON, MO -

The help wanted signs are out in Branson as businesses look ahead to the holiday season.
Job seekers like Lyman Daugherty filled the Missouri Career Center in Branson to look for employment for the 3-day job fair.
" I feel very hopeful, says Daugherty. " Keep your fingers crossed."

Daugherty was one of more than 30 people who put their best foot forward.  He wants to make a good impression on places like Big Cedar Lodge, Talbots, Bass and IMAX.

Daugherty is new to town. With his resume in hand, Daugherty says sometimes what's written on paper doesn't always translate in person. " This is a great opportunity for somebody to present themselves so they can show an employer what they're capable of, what they're like," says Daugherty.  " It also gives them a chance to get a feel for the employer and ask some questions."  Questions like what jobs are available and how many positions are there?

Jake Adams, A manager with Bass at Tanger Outlets says they're looking to hire up to 30 people.  " We really need some part time workers especially with the holiday season," says Adams.  You could be looking at a good 40 hours a week if that's what you want. We just need lots of people."

Gayle Pitman, IMAX theater's retail sales director says they're looking for a number of positions to fill. " In retail, we're looking for someone who can run a cash register or who is just good with people. At the theater, they just need someone who just loves movies, likes to talk about movies sell tickets and do box office or concession stands."

A variety of opportunities, but the best advice from these Brandon-area employers to job-seekers ...come to the job fair with confidence. " If you come in optimistic and say i want a job, I'm here, I'm a good worker and just come in happy, that's what all these people are looking for," says Adams.

The Job Fair continues Wednesday and Thursday at the Missouri Career Center on Shepherd of the Hills Expressway in Branson. Hours are 10 a-m to 2 p-m.
