Norcross job fair Saturday for new Macon Tire plant - WXIA-TV
NORCROSS, GA (WMAZ) -- Kumho Tire will hold a job fair in Norcross this Saturday, to recruit employees for its new plant under construction in Macon.
The tire company is seeking workers to fill a variety of positions, including electrical and mechanical engineers, purchasing managers, strategic planning managers, accounting and finance managers.
The Georgia Department of Labor is helping organize the job fair.
When asked why the job fair was taking place in Norcross, Department of Labor's Sam Hall said for the first recruitment, the company wanted to cast a larger net to attract workers.
"Obviously, this is not a reflection on the skills of people in the Macon area," Hall said in a telephone interview Tuesday. "It's just that there are a lot of skilled people in the Atlanta area."
Hall also said, "Most of all of the recruitments in the future, as I understand it, will be in the Macon area," though he did not have any dates.
"They plan to recruit in both areas, and it's just a matter of the scheduling worked out so that this one is being held here in Gwinnett County," he said.
The Norcross job fair runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the KAAGA Building at 5900 Brook Hollow Parkway.
Applicants should bring copies of their resume, be prepared to complete applications at the job fair, and dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for jobs.
