The column that says Bridgeton kids activist John Fuqua, who knows the south side because he grew up there and watched his friends die one by one, will be on 92.1 FM Saturday at noon to talk about where we are and why we're there.

Good morning!

On Thursday evening, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m., a program of Christmas stories and songs will be presented by David Emerson and Stacy Roth of "History on the Hoof" of Burlington.

This free program at the Salem County Bookmobile Library is a free, family-friendly window into the traditions and history of a favorite holiday. Live performers will entertain us and be available to mingle and answer questions after the program.

The Friends of the Bookmobile and New Jersey Heritage Commission are sponsors of the program. The library is located at 900 Route 45 in Mannington. Call 856-769-1082 to reserve.

Our "Giving Tree" effort  is still in need of warm hats and mittens/gloves for children in Nepal who are still suffering from the effects of last summer's earthquakes.

The library also collecting toys for "Toys for Tots" Any donations for these efforts will be appreciated.

The YMCA of Vineland will host a Summer Job and Career Fair on Tuesday, Dec. 22, from noon to 5 p.m., on the second floor, in the Davis Room.

Anyone interested in these positions is encouraged to attend: Summer camp counselors, preschool certified substitute teachers, preschool substitute assistants, before and after school assistants, group fitness substitutes, lifeguards, and swim instructors.

"There is no need to preregister," explained Terri Booth, senior Childcare director. "It will be helpful if participants can bring with them a résumé and the names and phone numbers of at least four references. That will facilitate the hiring process."

During the fair, there will be on-site interviews and opportunities to learn about the YMCA and staff. Information about volunteer and internship possibilities will also be available.

For more details, call the YMCA of Vineland at 856-691-0030, visit 1159 East Landis Avenue, or check www.ccaymca.org.

"Each year, New Jersey fails to make the required pension payments, the crisis gets worse and the future cost to taxpayers grows.

"The repeated failure by the administration to make the required payments could cost taxpayers an additional $45 billion, and has contributed to the record number of credit downgrades and lost investment earnings."

— Sen. Steve Sweeney

""Gov. Christie's good fortune and favorables may be improving on the national campaign trail, but it's just the opposite in New Jersey. Ever since Christie announced his official 2016 run, he has received his lowest ratings as governor — even lower than in the year post-Bridgegate."

—  Ashley Koning,

assistant director of the Eagleton Center

for Public Interest Polling at Rutgers University

The Pinelands Commission notified the owner of Tuckahoe Turf Farms last year that the tournaments violated a deed restriction limiting its recreational use to "low recreation" activities.

Legislation sponsored by Senator Jeff Van Drew and Assemblyman Bob Andrzejczak to permit the South Jersey farm to host youth soccer tournaments, as well as games and practices, on its grounds, was has been approved by the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee.

Soccer tournaments not good for the Pinelands?

As opposed to hiking, hunting, canoeing, horseback riding and bicycling?
