On the heels of a similar job fair for veterans six months ago at the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, another "Hiring Our Heroes" event is set for Jan. 8 in North Charleston.

About 600 people turned out for the event in June and organizers are hoping hundreds more attend the 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. event at the South Carolina National Guard Armory at 7220 Cross County Road in North Charleston.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, along with the lead sponsor University of Phoenix and several others, will host the event where more than 40 businesses will have jobs available for veterans and military spouses.

The event will include a free employment workshop at 8:30 a.m. that focuses on resume writing, interview skills and job search techniques.

Interested job seekers should pre-register online at http://ift.tt/1e3qB2W. Veterans must provide proof of service.
