Dow Diamond to host Great Lakes Bay Job Fair, employers can register now - The Flint Journal

MIDLAND, MI — Midland's Dow Diamond, home of the Great Lakes Loons, is hosting the Great Lakes Bay Job Fair in September, and employers can register now.

The Great Lakes Bay Job Fair takes place from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Dow Diamond, 825 E. Main St.

The event is a partnership among Delta College, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works, Michigan Rehabilitation Services, the Workforce Development Agency of the State of Michigan, Davenport University, Digity and the American Legion, according to Delta College's Counseling-Advising and Career Services website.

It is free to all job seekers, the general public and current and former Delta College students.

Employers are invited to reserve their spaces now.

Martin Finney is the career services adviser at Delta College. He said these career fairs usually have about 80 participating employers.

Employers that participated last year include Bangor Township Schools, Wolverine Human Services, Baytech, Bavarian Inn Lodge, Kerkau Manufacturing, Chemical Bank, Garber Automotive, Glastender, Sears, H&R Block and the state of Michigan.

"We have a spring one on campus and we always have one off campus," Finney said.

It's been about six years since the career fair has taken place in Midland.

"We've done them in Saginaw and other places," he said. "We try to rotate for the fall one."

Finney said last year's on-campus career fair drew about 800 job seekers. Off-campus fairs tend to draw fewer, about 500, he estimated.

Job seekers planning to attend need not register, he said.
